Report from Creake Charity Horse Ride Sunday 28th Sept 08
Written by Group Controller
Sunday, 28 September 2008

The group provided some good safety cover and comms for St John Ambulance at this horse riding event. Thank you to those that attended from the group and beyond -your efforts were appreciated.

Some of the riders managed to get misplaced but rapid intervention stopped the incidents escalating.

We establised a good readable 2m net on 145.200MHz and also ran a secondary net  on 3.663MHz for the event.

Raynet aerial back in operation at GB3KY site
Written by Group Controller
Saturday, 27 September 2008
Following some recent work the Raynet dual band VHF/UHF aerial is now back and fully functional from the GB3KY site in West Norfolk. This was reported as faulty in early summer.  It is available for use in long distance linking east across Norfolk, south into East Anglia and if required west into the East Midlands. As the site runs a 2m network repeater it's prime use would be for UHF communication links.

Report From Sandringham Charity Horse Ride 21st Sept 2008
Written by Group Controller
Sunday, 21 September 2008

Thank you to the members that turned out to support this bi-annual ride.  130 competitors made it quite a busy day but thankfully there were no first aid incidents to deal with.

We ran three nets - 145.200Mhz was the primary net backed up with a 80m net on 3.663MHz. There was also a locally used PMR net on the hi-band UK general frequencies.

Signals were all good readable on 2m but the HF sigs varied quite a  bit as different antenna were used at the different sites.  Most stations ran 5W max PEP SSB.
