Report from Sandringham Charity Horse Ride Sunday 11th Oct 09
Written by Group Controller
Monday, 12 October 2009

Thank you to the members that were available to help provide safety communications cover to this event.  Initial plans had been to provide 2m, PMR and HF cover on this event but unfortunately on route to the event one of the wheels fell off the control caravan!  Plans were re appraised and Ted G4OZG took control of the 2m net and the PMR safety net.  This allowed the event to start on time.

The 2m net ran very successfully across the bulk of the required coverage area between mobiles and at lunch time Kevin G1SCQ was available again for operations with all planned points being manned.

200 riders took part and we eventually completed operations at 16:00.

A good team effort dynamically managing  the changes in personnel and equipment availability.

Report from Sandringham Cancer Research 10KM Run Sunday 27th Sep 2009

Thank you to the members that turned out to help provide first aid and safety communications cover at this event on a warm September day!  A 2m net was run without any issue across to hand held operators located at strategic first aid points.

We also worked with several Rover Rescue members that are  also licensed - and indeed some also Raynet members!  This proved most useful and it is hoped more of the Rover Rescue team will be suitably equipped in the future which makes operational logistics a lot easier.  It is events such as these where the voluntary agencies are working together so well that stands us in a good state to assist in times of emergency where operational protocol has already been established.

Report From Creake Horse Ride 13 Sep 09
Written by Group Controller
Sunday, 13 September 2009

With a good turnout of members and help from supporting groups we provided both a 2m and 80m net to cover this multi-distance horse ride. We had several misplaced riders to deal with and the radio traffic proved quite busy for sometime.

Thanks from the organisers for all our efforts and a good logistics and map reading exercise for our response vehicle!
