As is usual practice the Group will be paying two yearly membership renewal fees for those members that wish to continue with Raynet membership. This provides you with 3rd party & personal insurance cover whilst on Raynet active duty and adds you to the National registration scheme which gives you ID and the ability to operate within the UK on Raynet activities. Unless your photo has changed significantly previous photos can re used so all that will be needed is confirmation that you are happy for the group to reregister you and that the contact details held are up to date.
The intention is to send through the list of members requiring reregistration on Sunday 28th Feb. Please can any responses be made by then please.

As ever group members are reminded to monitor local weather forecasts and news bulletins in case any flood related activity is planned for the area. Raynet's role in West Norfolk in tidal flood situations is to provide operators for control rooms and at designated rest centres if they are opened. They may also be asked to provide some communications in support of any planned evacuation. Raynet will NOT be involved in monitoring of water levels (an Environment Agency role) and operators are reminded to not put themselves into areas at risk of flooding. Raynet will support the Emergency Planning Unit and other voluntary organisations during such activities and any resources available will be tasked subject to greatest need. The latest state of flood warnings can be found on the EA's website by clicking here . |

Thank you to all the members that were able to attend Exercise PENelope. This looked at a multi-agency distribution of a Precautionary Evacuation Notice in the North West Norfolk coastal area of Hunstanton, Heacham & Snettisham. Around 40 volunteers took part from various agencies with Raynet providing the core communications for some of the teams. We deployed as per the operational plan on VHF simplex and also had opportunity to use UHF d-Star as well which proved quite effective. Martin G4OKH at the Control |
